Thanking a Mentor with Group eCard

Katayoun Chamany’s students at the New School recently created her a thank you group ecard using Kudoboard to wish her a happy birthday and to thank her for her impact and mentorship throughout the years.  Based on the messages, it’s clear Dr. Chamany has had a major impact on her student’s lives. Here are a few choice snippets from the board:

“OK, where do I start. You are by far one of the most important people in shaping my academic and intellectual life. Every class I take, paper I write, or article I read, I have your voice in my head pushing me to think more broadly, deeply, and clearly.”

“You not only showed me that science is fascinating, you taught me that activism in science is essential.”

“It’s insufficient to thank you for your support and dedication because your impact has been so profound to me and I’m sure many, many other alums! ”

“Thank you for being an amazing mentor, friend, and overall positive influence in my life. You introduced me to so much as your student that drastically shifted my perspective and set me on the path that I’m on today.”

How To Say Thank You To A Mentor

Many of us have had influential mentors in the past, or maybe we are still learning from one now. Expressing our gratitude for the mentors who have shaped us is so important and helps show them appreciation. Here are four ways to show your thanks:

    1. Create A Thank You Mentor Group eCard. Creating a virtual thank you card to express your gratitude (and including others to show their appreciation) is easy and affordable. If you need ideas of what to write, check out this article of 40 ways to say thank you to a mentor.
    2. Give Them Their Favorite Treat. Nothing says thank you like an ice cold Dr. Pepper (or whatever their drink of choice is).
    3. Take Them To Dinner or Lunch. Bonus points if you take them to their favorite restaurant. A great meal is an excellent way to show gratitude.
    4. Gift A Plant. Is your mentor a plant parent? A plant is a fun and meaningful way to say thank you. Plants last a long time and they’ll think of you whenever they see the plant.

Don’t hesitate, show gratitude for your mentor today!
