Honoring History at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum

Jump To:

At Kudoboard, it’s our mission to empower people to celebrate the moments that matter. While many of these occasions and events are lighthearted, some weigh heavier and provide deep significance.

For the United States, December 7, 1941 was a defining moment in history, dragging the country into conflict and setting its trajectory for the years and decades to come.

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum in Honolulu honors that legacy; sharing artifacts, historical details, and personal stories of the Pearl Harbor attack to visitors from around the world. In doing so, they remind all guests of the sacrifice and bravery of our Greatest Generation.

As a part of their experience, the staff created a Kudoboard for supporters to post stories of the WWII heroes in their lives. The board features memories, stories, and photographs of the brave service members that fought and sacrificed.

    Stories of Honor and Sacrifice

The Kudoboard, entitled “Honor Your Hero Among Millions,” serves as an online tribute board where supporters are invited to honor the Hero in their lives, to ensure that their stories are remembered and treasured for generations to come.

To collect the contributions, the Museum encouraged their community to share impactful memories and valuable stories. Many of the posts are specific to Pearl Harbor, but others are about service in Europe and beyond.

The contributions are incredible snapshots of history:

“(John) Dains, along with fellow squadron members 2LTs George Welch, Kenneth Taylor, Harry Brown and the 47th Pursuit Squadron’s executive officer, First Lieutenant Bob Rogers, were woken out of their slumbers by the bombing and raced in two cars to a little dirt airstrip on the North Shore of Oahu called Haleiwa field where their squadron’s P-40 Warhawks were temporarily deployed for gunnery training. Japanese planes spotted the two cars speeding toward the airfield and strafed them, narrowly missing the one that carried Dains. This scene is reenacted in the movie “Pearl Harbor” as actors Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, portraying AAF fighter pilots, race in a car to the airfield and their P-40 fighter planes.”

    Milestone Boards to Capture History

To create the “Honor Your Hero Among Millions” board, the museum used a Milestone board, which is great for large groups and custom displays. It allows for personalized backgrounds and unlimited board posts so contributors never run out of room.

Milestone board owners can also display their Kudoboard as a slideshow, allowing for a premium scrolling display on monitors or TV displays of every size. They can choose from a range of templates, add animations or transitions, and even create a custom layout to suit the specific occasion. It’s perfect for events, exhibits, or showcases.

Thank you to Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum for allowing us to help honor the contributions and sacrifices of these service members. We’re proud to help you share and preserve this history online for all to see.
